Étretat is famous for its spectacular and imposing cliffs on the Côte d’Albâtre in Seine-Maritime. Sculpted by the sea into strange flint and limestone formations that rise abruptly above the English Channel, these cliffs even have names: Aiguille Creuse, Manneporte, Courtine (the keyhole cliff), Porte d’Amont and Porte d’Aval. At low tide, you can walk along the beach to the legendary cave known as “trou à l’homme” and to the oyster beds that date from the 18th century.
